have to admit it. I almost gave up all hope of solving Scout’s cat urine odor problem. I just about did the unthinkable because I was so darn frustrated and at the end of my rope. But today I’m happy to say I finally solved Scout’s cat urine problem. I started thinking about sending Scout back to the feline rescue organization. It never crossed my mind to put her to sleep, make her an outdoor cat, or banish her to the basement. kill bedbugs cheaply with crystal silica gel cat litter (You must crush it to a fine fine powder yourself.) it even kills roaches and lots of other crawling insects (any brand of silica gel cat litter will do. It does not have to be the same brand as in the video.)
Other insect powders contain diatomaceous earth or silica gel. Why pay a fortune when the cat litter is dirt cheap. You will have so much left over you can share it with dozens of friends who have problems with bed bugs.
Of course, you can even use it as cat litter.
Insect powder costs about $7 Canadian for 200 grams.
For $10 Canadian you get 2.95 kilograms (6.5 pounds) of silica gel cat litter.
You can mix the powder with insecticide to make it more deadly but don’t put poisoned powder on your mattress. However, the insecticide is not necessary. Mix it with propoxur for a good double effect. The powder alone can kill for a year. The propoxur is has a one month residual effect. Don’t put powder mixed with propoxur on your mattress.
Try this test and you will see with your own eyes that I am right.
If you don’t have silica gel cat litter then crush to a fine powder the beads in one of those little packets of dessicant(it is silica gel) that say “throw away, don’t eat”. Put the powder in a container with a few bedbugs and they will be dead in an hour or two. Dried up and on their backs dead and as dry as a bone in the hot desert sun.
-Aquarium diatom filter powder also kills insects. It is a little course and may need to be ground to a more fine powder. It too can be mixed with a little insecticide to kill all kinds of bugs.
-Even plain cement powder can kill bedbugs. It will stick to them and dry them out. It takes longer but it works.
-plain old everyday sand crushed to a powder may also work because it is also silicon dioxide. (It may be crystaline silica so don’t put it on your mattress.)the cat litter silica is amorphous and if it is safe for cats then it is safe for humans.see also;

How To Make Your Own Cat Urine & Odor Remover.It all began one summer afternoon when I decided to take on a new client with cats. I own a Pet Service Business and I thought, Hey, a bunch of cats. No problem!
What the was I thinking! The lady has 37 freaking cats living under one roof! Now, Im not one to judge. But 37 indoor cats!
It gets even better. It wasnt until my first visit that I actually counted the litter boxes throughout the house. To my horror I found she only had 18 litter boxes for 37 cats!
Now Im no math wiz, but even I know thats not enough to hold everything these full time indoor cats are going to make.
She was gone for 15 days so it was just me and this herd of cats. She probably cleaned the litter boxes multiple times a day, but she had me doing one visit per day for 15 days. The litter boxes would fill up fast and plenty.
The first 4 days went Ok. But after that it was all downhill. Some of the cats started to pee outside of their litter boxes on the carpet, linoleum, and on a bedroom wall.
