Hello fellow cat lovers,

So you’ve got cats? Let me start off with our story. We are a family of 6 people, 2 adults four kids and currently 10 cats. Yes that is not a typo 10 cats.

A few years back we decided that it would be fun to have a cattery and sell kittens. That does sound like fun doesn’t it?? Please don’t judge us. We love animals:)

We’ve owned cats, dogs, hamsters, rats, peacocks, chickens. We’ve also rescued many animals over the years, bunnies, raccoons, mice and recently a woodchuck.

So while we love animals and specifically cats, we don’t love the odors that having cats who reside with us create, by having 7 cat litter boxes. In fact there is nothing much worse than cat pee. Ok maybe skunks are worse, but cat pee is still awful!

As you can imagine what comes with a cattery is a lot of cat box odor, and while we loved raising the kittens for 6 years, when we finally decided to stop breeding, we were left with 10 full grown cats. If you’re anything like me the smell of cat urine is intolerable.

We had been through the whole gamut of different options that are available for use in eliminating kitty litter odors. You know, automatic cat litter scoopers, every conceiveable brand of cat litter, like Tidy Cat Litter and on and on. Nothing was working that well.

Yes when you changed the kitty litter boxes it would stop the cat urine odors briefly, that is until one of the cats would use the clean cat litter pans. Yipes here we go again, smelly house! Phoebe from Friends could have wrote a song about our house: Smelly house, Smelly house, oh what a Smelly  house.

Finally after being tortured for way too long with cat urine odor. We had had enough. After thoroughly thinking through this situation, we hatched a plan and came up with a completely brilliant idea. It was pure genius and need I say it again, brilliant! If it worked it would completely eliminate all of our cat urine ordor problems and our house would be once again back to smelling like a clean house should.

Luckily for you our brilliant cat eliminating odor plan worked. In fact it worked so beautifully that when you step into our house you would never suspect that we have 7 kitty litter boxes. The only giveaway would be that you would probably see various cats either sitting or lounging around the house as cats are known to do.

We decided that it wasn’t fair to the rest of the world to keep this completely brilliant and genius product to ourselves. After all we know better than most what cat pee is all about. So because of this we’ve put together a kit that you can purchase and thus you’ll be able to finally eliminate 100% of any kitty litter box odor that you have in your house. We call it Litter Vent

If you can’t take the cat urine odor anymore and would like to get your house back to smelling nice, this is the way to go. We guarantee that it will work for you, just like it does for us.

Please feel free to leave any comments about how fantastic you think Litter Vent is. We love accolades. Well obviously, duh.

Oh and one last thing, you’ll even be able to hide your cat litter furniture boxes under a table in your living room or kitchen or even your bedroom and no one will be the wiser, you won’t even remember it’s there. Just remember to be a good cat owner and change the litter regularly. Cats will take exception to having a really dirty litter box, so even though you won’t be smelling any odors, the litter box still needs to be changed.

For those with odor-repelling cat litter, what does it smell like?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter odor

My dad has been bugging me lately about how if the cat poos or pees, the stink is unbearable.

I told him there is such thing as odor-repelling cat litter, but he won’t believe me! Like everything that happens, he blames the animal! So, for those with odor-repelling cat litter, what does it smell like? (&what brand)

Even if you have a product that claims to be the best odor-repelling cat litter ever created, cat poo is still gonna stink after it’s laid. Cats have a distinctive poo odor because of the high protein in their diets. There’s just no way to cover up the stink of poo. There is, however, a way to reduce the stink of poo, and that’s to feed your cat a good quality canned food diet without nasty fillers. The more nasty fillers the food has (animal by-products, corn, gluten, soy, cellulose, etc.) the more your cat is gonna poo and the stinkier it’s going to be because he’s pushing out more waste and it’s going to smell.

Try a natural litter, which lasts longer, is better for your cat, and smells fresher longer. World’s Best Cat Litter is aptly named, it really is the best cat litter out there (I’ve tried several different brands–Tidy Cats, Arm and Hammer, Swheat Scoop, etc.). It’s made out of porous corn bits that suck up odor. I never smell cat pee (and his litter box is in my bedroom). You’d be surprised how much a bag lasts. It seems expensive at first but you don’t have to change out the box as much. As for the smell, it really has no odor except when you first pour it (and then it just smells grainy, like dried corn kernels).

should i buy a home with a strong cat odor?"?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter odor

there is a foreclosed home that could be nice, but the finished basement has a very strong cat litter/odor to it. it’s really horrible. would it be a mistake to buy this home? i don’t want to get in there and not be able to get rid of the odor.

There is a difference between litter smell and urine smell. LItter smell is very easy to get rid of. Urine is a little bit harder. If there is a carpet, you need to get rid of it and anything under it.

What you could do before taking a decision is to identify the spots where spaying or urine was. It’s easily done by using an infra-red light (black light). You can buy these at a dollar store. Cat urine glow under that kind of light altought if it’s been dry it might not be very obvious but you should see it. If you find that urine is everywhere on the walls (those are marking) then you will have a hard time getting rid of the smell even with good products. Otherwise, like many people said here, you have good products out there.

What you really need is a cleaning product with a special enzyme (read the bottle and if you see "with enzyme" it’s the one). You need to flood the area and when I say Flood, I say…FLLLLOOOOD the area with the product (buy a big bottle). DO NOT DRY OR Sponge it. Just flood the area and let it dry for 5 days. That’s the way the enzyme works, by killing the smelly material while evaporating.

If there is a lot of spot in the house, it will probably always smell a tiny bit even after a good cleaning. But that’s a good reason to bring the cost down.

what can i do to reduce the bad odor of the cat litter box?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter odor

I have two adult cats in a small apartment. I currently have the littlermaid self cleaning cat litter box which tends to get stuck and stops cleaning. I would never recommend it to anyone because it has turned out to be a huge waste of money. I need some help with an alternative option to get rid of the cat litter smell so I can invite people over again.

Use baking soda or any of the other products that are on the market to deodorize the litter box. The litter that I have now is almost too floral and I think it may be for the cat too. Be sure to remove the waste from the box everyday (at least). When you replace the litter which should be once a week, wash the litter box with mild soap and water. Allow it to dry completely before putting in the litter. Because you have 2 cats - you probably should have 2 litter boxes. I had heard the self-cleaning were, not only expensive, but not as advertised. I have all sorts of air freshners around the areas where I have the boxes. If you can find a well ventillated area, that would probably be best.

why cant you be around cat litter when pregnant?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter odor

i have have 3 cats right now and i just found out that i am preg i know that you are not supose to be around the cat feces or cat litter. well if the cat odor gets to me will that hurt me? and what is it about it that will hurt me and the baby so much.

i changed my cats box for 10 weeks before I knew I was pregnant! the doctor said if I had to wear gloves and cover face not to inhale the liter the poop cats carry can have toxics in it the Doing so could put you at risk for contracting a disease called Toxoplasmosis. This is an infection that can occur via contact with the stool of an infected cat. The risk to your baby is substantial. Cats are often infected from outside sources including rodents that (uncooked lunchmeats also carry the same thing.) if your cat is a indoor cat the chances of your cat carrying that bacteria or disease is slim to nothing! & if you’ve been around cats your whole life yor most likely immune to what they carry. so my doctor told me to avoid it as much as possible but not to stress!

How can I get rid of a cat litter odor that came out after I vacuumed when I was done cat sitting?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter odor

I watched a friend’s cat and the place smelled fine. A week or two after the cat left, I vacuumed the apartment and the smell of kitty litter became came out. It was fine before but after the vacuum, I think it may have heated up some smaller kernels of litter that got tracked into the carpet, and that’s what caused the pungent smell. I tried Febreeze, but it didn’t do much., Any ideas?

Febreeze really doesn’t work. You’ll have to go to a petco website and look for something like that. under stains and odors. Make sure you check for colorfastness it might take the color out of your carpet and there is some without it. It would probably cost 11.00 dollars. But it is less then paying someone to spray it or getting a new carpet. Also for a hint make sure you read the comments so you can see if it works. That will save you money and time.

Can I mix baking soda in with cat litter to help with odor?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat litter odor

Or would that be harmful to the cats? I have a few litter boxes, but they seam to favor one for urinating which even though it gets cleaned a lot, still has the stink. Can I mix in the Arm and Hammer, or is that dangerous?

You can mix the baking soda with the litter, it is cheaper than the products they sell specifically for litter boxes, but I don’t know if it works as well. However, what I would recommend is that you sprinkle a heavy layer on the bottom of the box, before you put the litter in. Also, {and you may already know this} if the one box is very old, you may want to get a new one, because the odor may be absorbed into the plastic and you can’t really do anything about that. BUT, if you do this, becareful and don’t remove the old one until the cats are definitely urinating in another box, or you make create a problem and find them urinating elsewhere, if you take their ‘favorite’ box for urinating away, before they have become adjusted to another. Simply put the new box exactly where the old one sat and the old one beside it. Cats are such persnickety things, you never know what they’ll like or what might tick them off, but they are sooooooo wonderful!
