I hate the smell my cat’s litterbox makes. My mom remarks whenever she comes inside the house from work when she’s gone for a few hours, she can smell the stench that is far down the hallway in our room. When I walk into my room I’m always greeted by the stench. What is a good cat litter that odor blocks really well and what are some other tips that keep the catbox from stinking?
It isn’t the litter box creating the odor, it’s what is in it!
Empty the box and wash it very well with soapy water. Rinse. Dry.
Pour 1/2 a box of baking soda in the bottom.
Add a few inches of litter. No smell!
Scoop the box completely at least once daily.
Repeat the entire sequence every week.
Urine comes out of the body sterile and with little odor but for the slight ammonia smell. It is when bacteria get to work on the voided urine that it smells really bad. If it is removed daily there is not much chance for this to happen.
Cats’ stools smell can range from no discernible odor to incredibly foul. This can be controlled by what the cat eats.
If you are feeding your cat a diet of poorly digested ingredients then it is going to have much more odor. If you feed your cat only canned or raw food containing no by-products, corn, wheat etc. there will be no to little odor.
Switch your cat to a high quality canned food, no dry stuff made of corn etc, keep the box very clean, and you will notice a difference.
To help your cat’s digestion you could add a probiotic supplement to its food a couple times a week.
I have 3 cats and 2 litter boxes. They absolutely do not smell.
